There is nothing worse than a dirt driveway. It might be in perfect working condition but tough oil stains or wet leaves after the winter might leave your new or existing driveway looking old, weathered and unpresentable. Here are our top tips on doing a big spring clean of it right in time for summer:
Determine if there is a fluid stain if its wet or dry
If you’ve come across a new spill which is typically still wet, start by covering it with cat litter, cornstarch, baking soda or anything that will absorb the excess moisture quickly.
If you have a stubborn existing stain
Use baking soda and water to make a pasta and cover the existing stain with the mixture. Next, use a stiff brush and scrub the surface until the stain starts to dissipate. Lastly, rinse the pavement with a hose and water. If you have access to a high-pressure washer this will help.
Debris
Often debris such as leaves, garbage, weeds and mould can begin to blow or grow around the driveway. The key to this is to remove it as soon as possible. Things like weeds can begin to grow roots which will add pressure to the driveway or carparks surface and cause cracking or splitting down the road. It is important to keep up with regular maintenance and upkeep to prevent future damages.
